The ‘Owner Ambassadors’ who will represent the last three wildcard runners in The All-Star Mile have been selected in a random draw, with each now in the running to win up to $250,000 in prizemoney.
The trio complete the set of Owner Ambassadors who will be hoping that their ‘All Star’ can take out the inaugural edition of the world’s richest mile race at Flemington on Saturday, 16 March.
Gary Woods, from Salamander Bay in New South Wales, was chosen at random to represent James Cummings’ multiple Group 1 winner Hartnell, one of the three wildcard recipients announced by Racing Victoria’s (RV) Executive General Manager – Racing, Greg Carpenter, on Monday.
Damien Murnane, from Sebastopol in Victoria, will be hoping that Tasmanian raider Mystic Journey can emulate her Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) heroics at Flemington next Saturday after he was randomly selected as the Owner Ambassador for Adam Trinder’s flying filly.
The final Owner Ambassador is Ashley Curnow, from Newport in Victoria, who was assigned Lindsay Park’s rising star Hawkshot in the random draw.
The Owner Ambassador for Pat Webster’s warrior Happy Clapper, who received the first wildcard, will be announced in the Herald Sun this Sunday (10 March), following a competition run by the Herald and Weekly Times.
