The Keeneland $400 Spring Challenge drew a record 283 entries on Saturday. The kickoff of a huge contest weekend that culminates in Sunday’s Grade One Gamble, the Challenge was decided when 9-2 Miltontown charged down the stretch to take the 11th race on Keeneland’s Saturday card.
Pat Stich of Chicago had $820 to win on Miltontown, and cashed for a final bankroll of $6556.00. He outlasted Wyatt Rosette of Oklahoma City, who had $1100 on the winner and a final bankroll of $6484.40.
Pat received a fully paid berth to the Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge at Santa Anita, worth $10,000, and $4500 in prize money. Wyatt received a fully paid berth to the 2020 National Horseplayers Championship in Las Vegas and $2500 in prize money.
Joining Wyatt in Vegas are Doug Bredar, Michael Murphy, Bill Shurman and Ken Kasowicz, who finished 3rd through 6th.
